Essential rolls out new Android P beta 4 and July security patches to the PH-1
Essential has had a rocky first year. They’ve struggled to get sales and see their brand gain real traction amongst other Android manufacturers. There was even rumor of their demise, but the company has led the way when it comes to getting timely updates to the Essential PH-1.
Today the company continued that dedication with July security patches and the latest Android P preview, arriving in just the 2nd day of the month. Both come with expected bug fixes and more secure software, but Android Auto looks to be a focus on both builds. Essential went to Twitter to announce that both the Android P preview and July Oreo bump should see a much-needed improvement in Android Auto stability.
We're also rolling out a new Android P Beta build that includes July security patches, the latest Google Code Drop and improvements to Android Auto.

Essential made some large promises surrounding the launch of the PH-1. The company has fallen short in many of those promises, but they were set on proving that timely updates were a choice that manufacturers could make. But, it’s definitely their stock approach to software that allows them to offer speedy updates. This latest wave of updates shows that they can certainly compete, but also that they rival Google in getting the latest code to their consumers.
TThe most impressive part is that they’re rolling out the beta only hours after the same beta went live for Pixel devices. Previously, you had to own a Pixel to get updates the day they’re released, but Essential is definitely shaking up that fact. If you’re the owner of an Essential PH-1, then make sure to head on over to your system settings to grab the update for yourself!
