Android Pay and Google Wallet come together under the name Google Pay
1 min read

Today Google announced an interesting change with regards to the name of their mobile payment platform. Instead of the widely known Android Pay and the previously known Google Wallet, they have decided to merge the two together and call it Google Pay.

It makes sense to see this name change coming from them, as other key payment options in the industry follow a similar naming scheme. Take for example Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay.

This is a welcome update that helps unify Google’s presentation of their mobile payment system. Google made the following statement in their press release:

“With Google Pay, it’ll be easier for you to use the payment information saved to your Google Account, so you can speed through checkout with peace of mind. Over the coming weeks, you’ll see Google Pay online, in store, and across Google products, as well as when you’re paying friends*.”

Also noteworthy is that companies such as Airbnb, Dice, Fandango, HungryHouse, Instacart, and other apps and websites are running offers for Google Pay users. What are your thoughts on this move from Google? Drop us a comment below!
