Lenovo Updates the ThinkPad X Series with 8th Gen Intel and Rapid Charging
2 min read

The Thinkpad X series is getting a nice little overhaul this year. In order to get the most out of the X Series, Lenovo has decided to add rapid charging to the line. They also upped the processing power this year to 8th Generation Intel Core processors, for a nice kick. This year, the ThinkPad X series is focusing on durability and performance, which won’t be too hard on paper with the specs they boast.

ThinkPad X280

The X280 has gotten a couple little upgrades this year. First off, the X280 comes in at 20% lighter and 15% thinner this year. The compact design is always a welcome upgrade. The other welcome upgrade is the 8th Gen i7 Intel Core Processor it boasts. Along with that is 16GB DDR4 RAM and up to 1 TB SSD storage.

With a 12.5″ 1920 x 1080 IPS Touch display, it isn’t the biggest out there, but it’ll definitely fit anywhere you need it to. One of the biggest selling points of the X280 is the fact that it only weighs 2.56 lbs.

With the specs built into the X280, it’s definitely a heavy hitter even though it’s on the lightweight side. All those specs are backed by a 13-hour battery life, so you know you’ll get everything done. That battery life is obtainable by Rapid Charging as well, needing only 60 minutes to charge 80%.

Thinkpad X380 Yoga

We’re all familiar with the Yoga line. It’s one of the most versatile devices Lenovo has to offer. You can use it as a laptop as easy as you can use it as a tablet with its 360-degree hinge. The ThinkPad X380 Yoga has a couple little tricks up its sleeve, though. For a bit of added security, an IR camera was installed and backed with Windows Hello.

The X380 Yoga also features the Active Pen for a better user experience. It also comes with an 8th gen i7 Intel Core Processor and up to 16GB RAM to back it up. Not to mention up to 1TB SSD storage. The battery life on the X380 Yoga is a long-lasting 13.6 hours. The X380 Yoga also includes Rapid Charging.

The X380 Yoga is coming in January 2018, but at a high price. With all the features included, it might not be hard for some to swallow the price tag. We’ll just have to wait for the full review to find out for sure!

Both of these products will be later available this year. The ThinkPad X280 starts at $999 and the X380 Yoga Starts at $1459. Be sure to stay tuned because we have a lot more Lenovo coverage coming this year at CES 2018!
