The ASUS ZenFone AR comes with Tango and Daydream, available now on Verizon
Verizon is the first carrier to get the ASUS ZenFone AR the only phone compatible with both Project Tango and Daydream. This means it’s a two in one powerhouse offering you Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality in the same device. Google’s Tango technology allows you to place virtual objects in your physical world.
There are over 35 Tango apps so far on the Play Store and they include the likes of virtual pets, decorating, shopping, and even educational apps. For a look at what Tango is capable of, you can check out our review of the first Tango enabled phone the Phab 2 Pro.
Daydream, on the other hand, offers you a complete virtual world to interact with when using the Daydream View headset and controller. With both of these technologies packed into this one phone you won’t have to choose which reality you want, now they are all available.
The ASUS ZenFone AR features a 5.7-inch WQHD AMOLED Gorilla Glass 4 display. Offering you plenty of space to play with Augmented Reality and a high-resolution screen for Virtual Reality. It is powered by the SD 821 SoC and a whopping 8GB of RAM, with 128GB of storage on board and expandable up to 2TB with a microSD card.
There is a tri-camera system on the back featuring a 23MP camera for photos, a motion tracking camera, and depth sensing camera for Tango. Along with an 8MP front facing camera for all of your selfie needs. The ASUS ZenFone AR also includes a non-removable 3300mAh battery with quick charge 3.0 to keep the lights on.
Right now you can grab the ASUS ZenFone AR from Verizon for $27 per month $648 total and for a limited time get a $25 dollar Wayfair gift card. That gift card will come in handy because Wayfair is one of the supported Tango apps. Allowing you to see what products will look like in your home virtually before you buy. The ZenFone AR has also been listed unlocked on Amazon in both the 8GB/128GB and 6GB/64GB variants.
