The Nexus 5X picks up the Pixel’s notification gestures, Nexus 6P likely next in line
There are a lot of little things to love about the Google Pixel, and one that many enjoy is the device’s built-in fingerprint scanner gestures. With a quick swipe, you can view your notifications, and then subsequently hide them once again.
However, when it was revealed that the Pixel and Nexus devices used the same hardware, many were annoyed that Google’s Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P devices didn’t support that feature. Now, they do.
With the recent update to Android 7.1.2, which will soon be available via the Android Beta Program, Google’s Nexus 5X picked up support for that same notification gesture. To enable it, 5X users can head into the device’s settings menu and locate the “Moves” options. From there, turn on the “Swipe for Notifications” gesture, and you’re good to go.
Right now, this is only available for the Nexus 5X, but it’s likely that the Nexus 6P will also pick up support for this feature when it gains access to Android 7.1.2 in the coming weeks.
