Google Now On Tap Picks Up Two New Features That Make It Much More Useful
Google Now on Tap is one of those services that, while extremely awesome and useful, is rarely used. Many users simply forget that the feature is available however after today’s update, I don’t think things will be the same.
This new update allows users to select specific sections of text whether that be on a website, book, or app and use Now on Tap with that specific keyboard. This gives users fast, precise information on what they specifically want to see. This means that while you’re reading an article or book and aren’t sure what a word means, you can use Google Now on Tap to get the definition or research the word.
Further, Google has also added full support for image recognition. Now on Tap can not only give you more information on images you’ve already taken, but it was also give you information about what your camera app is currently seeing. In Google’s example (seen below) we see Now on Tap recognize the Oakland Bay Bridge live through the camera.
These features are now rolling out to all users running Android 6.0 Marshmallow and above.Source: Google
