The Nextbit Robin Will Begin Shipping To Backers In February

It’s not often that Kickstarter smartphones actually see the light of day. We’ve seen numerous smartphone and tablet projects that have never seen the light of day, but Nextbit is not one of them. This week the company has announced that the Nextbit Robin would begin shipping to backers by February 16th.

Nextbit has already completed their first batch of Robins and those will go out starting on the 16th with more shipments following that. The Nextbit Robin grabbed attention as the first smartphone that works mainly in the cloud. The phone will automatically offload photos, videos, and even your applications to a secure 100GB cloud storage bucket if you’re not using it. So if you don’t use a certain app within say, a month’s time, the device will offload it to make room for other apps and data.

Early backers will be the first to get devices with other backers following in due time. An important note is that this is only for the GSM model, the CDMA model will be shipped at a later date, but we don’t know exactly when.
