Lenovo Wants You To Get Your Selfie On With The Vibe S1 Lite

Lenovo Wants You To Get Your Selfie On With The Vibe S1 Lite

With an 8MP front-facing camera and flash to take the ideal selfie even under less-than-ideal lighting conditions, Lenovo’s latest budget smartphone is designed with the social media addict in mind. There are a couple of caveats though: it won’t be sold in the largest social-media-addict market in the world (aka the United States), and it runs Lollipop 5.1.1. Can anyone spare a Marshmallow or two for a non-Nexus mid-ranger these days? It’s not as if Google’s charging for Android’s latest upgrade.

In any event, unspecified markets outside the U.S. (presumably China will be one of the markets to enjoy the Vibe S1 Lite) can get their selfie on for a mere $199 US (~1,298 Chinese Yuan). Just in case you’re curious about any specs aside from the “selfie cam” with the Sony sensor, here goes…

  • 64-bit MTK 6753 octa-core 1.3GHz processor
  • Android™ 5.1, Lollipop
  • 5.0” IPS wide-view Full HD (1920X1080) display, 440ppi
  • 8MP FF front camera with Sony sensor and built in selfie-flash
  • 13MP PDAF rear camera with ISOCELL sensor and dual LED CCT rear flash
  • 16GB eMMC built-in storage with up to 32GB microSD expandable storage support
  • Dual SIM slots with 4G LTE connectivity
  • 2700mAh embedded battery
  • Pearl White / Midnight Blue

Of course, the Vibe S1 Lite doesn’t rock the highest-resolution front-facing camera in the known universe, but it’s certainly not bad for $199. Having spent some time with a Lenovo tablet rocking a ‘mere’ quad-core MediaTek processor, I can surmise that the octa-core MTK 6753 processor will be more than adequate for your needs even if you’re into hard-core gaming on your selfie phone. Also, Lenovo expects the curved backplate to make the phone fit more comfortably in your hand while you take your latest seflie for posting on Instagram (or Facebook or Twitter or Snapchat or G+…). Please feel free to feast your eyes on the gallery of the Vibe S1 Lite below and let us know what you think in the comments!

Take Great Selfies and Groupies in the Dark with Lenovo VIBE S1 Lite

Las Vegas, NV – January 2016: Today at CES in Las Vegas, Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) announced the new Lenovo VIBE S1 Lite – proving affordability, performance, and entertainment go hand-in-hand.
Not all photo ops happen in bright light and sometimes the perfect selfie suffers in dim lighting. So we gave Lenovo VIBE S1 Lite an 8MP front camera with a 5-piece lens for zero-distortion, a Sony image sensor, and a built-in selfie flash to increase the amount of light captured. Looking to take a ‘groupie’? The panorama selfies feature will get the entire crew in and, retouching software ensures everyone is social sharing ready. We didn’t stop at selfies; we also added a 13MP PDAF rear camera and dual LED CCT rear flash to deliver crisper-colored images every time the sun sets.
Primed for all types of entertainment, Lenovo VIBE S1 comes with a 5.0” wide-view Full HD display, and it keeps users mobile with its powerful 2700mAh battery capable of playing movies or music videos for hours. We’ve designed it to handle the streaming, downloading and multitasking users expect, thanks to its 64-bit MTK 6753 octa-core 1.3 GHz processor and LTE connectivity. And 16GB of built-in memory, plus up to 32GB expandable through microSD storage, means lots of room for music, movies, games and images.
That’s not all. Lenovo VIBE S1 Lite looks good and feels good too with its wrapped metallic frame and ergonomic curved back making it extremely comfortable and sleek looking. It will be available in Matte White and Matte Blue.
