The budget spaces continues to get more competitive, and starting next Friday it gets a brand new entry. The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 is identical in design to it’s big brother, the Idol 3 5.5″. It has a smaller 4.7″ inch display as well as slightly lower end specifications. The display is downgraded to 720p but is still IPS. The device runs on top of the Snapdragon 410 processor backed up by 1.5GB RAM. It has 16GB of internal storage with the option to upgrade storage via a microSD card up to 32GB. Out of the box the device runs Android 5.0.2 with an update available to fix the Stagefright vulnerability. The device also has a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The battery inside is non-removable and has a capacity of 2,000 mAh.

This variant of the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 retains the same light software skin found on the 5.5″ variant and also has the same front-facing stereo speaker setup.

The Idol 3 4.7″ will be available starting August 14th for $179. With it’s specifications it could potentially be a strong competitor to the 2015 Moto G. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments below!
