Splatoon Wii U Bundle Coming To North America and Europe, Best-Buy-Exclusive In The States

Splatoon is shaping up to be Nintendo’s big hitter as we go into the summer months. As with other games in this position, what’s one of the best ways to bring newcomers on board? Releasing a bundle, of course!

Wii U Bundle

Nintendo announced in a press release yesterday that a special Splatoon Wii U bundle will be available in the United States as a Best-Buy-exclusive. The Splatoon Bundle will include a Wii U Deluxe console, a digital download code for Splatoon, and a pre-installed copy of Nintendoland for $299. The bundle will be available in-store and online at

On Twitter, Nintendo of Canada announced that the bundle will be available from retailers across the country on May 29th for $329. Nintendo of Europe also announced that a Splatoon Wii U Bundle will be coming to the region on June 19th. It won’t include the pre-installed Nintendoland, but will contain a physical copy of Splatoon.

As far as the United States goes, some may argue that limiting this bundle to just one retailer is exacerbating an annoying retailer-exclusive trend that Nintendo has, but I think it’s a little different in this case. Wii Us are not amiibo. It’s no secret that the console isn’t selling gangbusters, so a more conservative approach in this territory where competition is fierce leads to less consoles sitting and collecting dust.

Hopefully, this will help get Splatoon some needed traction. From what I’ve seen so far of the game, it has a lot of promise, but we’ll have to wait and see how it fares on release. Splatoon, the Splatoon Wii U Bundle, and the Splatoon amiibo will all release on May 29th in North America and June 19th in Europe.
