Apple Releases New 27-Inch iMac With 5K Display – New Mac Mini – OS X Yosemite Now Available For Free

Yesterday was Apple’s big day when it came to their computers. After a long time waiting we finally got a Retina iMac, a Mac Mini refresh, and also the public release of OS X Yosemite. Alongside those announcements we also got two new iPad models. But that’s not our focus here, let’s talk Mac.

First off, Retina iMac. This is bigger than most people might think. The new 27-inch Retina iMac packs some seriously impressive specifications behind a massive and pixel-dense display. Apple took resolution almost to a new level by skipping 4K going right to 5K. That’s a resolution of 5120×2880. Over 14.7 million pixels on that display. That’s seriously impressive. The machine also brings a quad-core Intel i5 processor clocked at 3.5GHz along with a Radeon R9 M290X graphics card and 8GB of RAM. 1TB of storage is also included. The machine starts at $2499 and is available today for purchase (link below).

Next, let’s talk Yosemite. OS X Yosemite was originally announced at WWDC a few months ago and is the next big step for Apple’s desktop ecosystem. The new update gives OS X a fresh coat of paint long with new features like iCloud Drive, Continuity, notification widgets and much more. The update will be available free of charge through the Mac app store and is available now (link below).

Lastly Apple finally updated the Mac Mini after two years of neglect. Nothing too major was changed. The design is still the same. However the device has been given a couple extra Thunderbolt ports as well as a specifications update. New fourth generation Intel processors have also been added. Pricing now starts at $499 rather than $599. That price gets the base model 1.4GHz dual-core Intel i5 with 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive, and Intel Graphics HD 5000. The highest end model currently available comes with a 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5 at 2.8GHz along with 8GB of RAM, Intel Iris graphics, and a 1TB Fusion drive for $999. The Mac Mini is also now available to buy from Apple (link below).

So, will you be getting any of the new Macs? How about OS X Yosemite? Let us know down in the comments!
