AT&T And Netflix Sign Deal To Ensure Fast Streaming Speeds
One more step towards the end of net neutrality. AT&T and Netflix have just reached an agreement to ensure that Netflix subscribers on AT&T can stream their content with no lag or delay. “We’re now beginning to turn up the connections, a process that should be complete in the coming days,” the company told the Washington Post.
This deal is called an “interconnection deal” and is almost exactly what Netflix has already signed with Verizon and Comcast previously. Even though AT&T and other broadband providers think that Netflix should be paying the extra cost in video traffic coming to their service, Netflix believes the opposite. They believe that those companies should be responsible for ensuring smooth streaming to their customers.
The details of this deal have not been disclosed yet, but this is definitely a good thing for subscribers of both AT&T and Netflix, just not for net neutrality.
