Get The Android L Release Keyboard (No Root Required)
As many of you know, yesterday Google made a developer preview of their newly announced Android L release available to download. This Android L release is Google’s biggest change to the Android OS and many Android fans wanted to get their hands on the developer preview, but there was a catch. You can only try the developer preview on a Nexus 5 or Nexus 7.
While we can’t give you the developer preview on ant device we can give you what seems to be the most popular app, the updated Google Keyboard app. Before you ask, no, we are not talking about the way that was found out yesterday that required you to have a rooted phone. This way involved a “modded” APK and can be downloaded without root, but there are still a couple of catches. First off, you need to be running Android 4.0 or higher on your device, this should not be a problem for most people. And Second, you need to be able to uninstall the Google Keyboard you currently have on your phone, if it is a system app like on Nexus devices you will not be able to use this method.
Alright we know you guys are chomping at the bit to get this new Google Keyboard on your phone so lets get started. The first thing you need to do is uninstall the Google Keyboard from your phone. Once this is done then download the new Google Keyboard here. After you have the keyboard downloaded and installed then open the new app, set it up and go into it’s settings, open “Advanced Settings” and change the color scheme to “Material”. There you have it, happy typing!
