Toast Real Wood Cover For Acer C720 Chromebook Review

Toast Real Wood Cover For Acer C720 Chromebook Review

Over the past couple days I’ve had the pleasure of using a new product on my Acer C720 Chromebook. This product is a skin which actually makes the Chromebook look great, but is a little different from the average skin. Rather than being a cheap, vinyl skin with a design on board, this skin is made from 100% real wood by a company called Toast.

First let’s talk a little bit about the company behind this great product. Toast is a company from Portland, Oregon that actually got started through KickStarter. The company produces real-wood covers and skins for a variety of products including iPhones, laptops, tablets, and even the latest smartphones like the Galaxy S5 and HTC M8. Each product is laser cut from all-natural wood cut right here in the United States to perfectly fit your device. Their operation is 100% fueled by renewable energy and everything they do is eco-friendly. The company even donates 1% of their sales to help restore and protect the environment. It’s a noble ambition, and they are doing a great job so far.

So now let’s look at the skin for the Acer C720. Installation was very easy and only took a couple of minutes. You need to be precise however since you only get one-shot. Toast recommends that you touch the adhesive as little as possible when applying the covers to prevent oils from your skin getting on the product. They also mention that you should make sure to clean off the device as best as you can to ensure a proper seal.

After installing the product you can look at the beauty now in front of you. The cover not only looks absolutely gorgeous but will also protect your device from scratches when the cover is on. The product feels very durable but I personally haven’t put that to the test just yet. While some of the other covers the company offers cover the entire device including the sides and bottom, this cover will only go over the top of your device. Personally I feel that for it’s price point, you should at least get the sides of the device covered.

So let’s talk about the price. Since this company does create each cover here in the US from real wood, it does drive up the price quite a bit. The cover for this Acer C720 costs $50 on it’s own. As mentioned above I do feel that the price point on this is a little high as the product does only cover the top of the device.

I do truly enjoy having this product on my Chromebook as it gives it a great look. It will surely draw attention in a school or work environment and it’s definitely a topic for conversation. You can pick up your own real wood cover from Toast at their website
