Microsoft’s Purchase Of Nokia Officially Closes April 25th

Not long ago, Microsoft bought out the Devices and Services section of Nokia but until now the deal hasn’t fully been closed. This deal has been in the works since it’s announcement in September 2013. Nokia was already the largest Windows Phone manufacturer so it made sense for them to go with Microsoft. Their deal with Microsoft closes on April 25th.

This marks the ends of over two decades of Nokia innovation since the company will no longer be recognized as a phone company. Microsoft is expected to change the name of Nokia’s D&S business to “Microsoft Mobile Oy”. It’s unknown how this merger will affect the Windows Phone landscape as well as Nokia’s other ventures such as the Android-powered Nokia X family.
