Batman: Arkham Knight Announced
The developer best known for creating the definitive modern style of Batman games is at it again. With Warner Bros. Montreal handling development of Arkham Origins, Rocksteady has been hard at work on their next-gen Batman game.
Batman: Arkham Knight will be the first game in the franchise to utilize the Batmobile, which has been uniquely designed by Rocksteady. The game world will cover an entirely new area of Gotham City, much larger than Arkham City, with wider streets to accommodate the new driving mechanics as well as the series-standard gliding and grappling traversal. Supervillains from the previous games like Scarecrow, Penguin, Two-Face, and Harley Quinn will be returning for the conclusion of Rocksteady’s Arkham arc.
Arkham Knight is scheduled to release later this year for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. There is no information on whether or not there will be a Xbox360/PS3/WiiU version yet, but it wouldn’t be surprising if there are no plans for one. A game like this gives Rocksteady the chance to fine-tune it for next-gen without having to accommodate less powerful hardware. If that is the case, this will be one of the first major multiplatform games releasing exclusively for next-gen machines.
