Samsung’s New Line Of Tablets Leak Out Ahead Of CES Release
Trusted tech leak @evleaks is at it again today posting images and specifications of Samsung’s newest line of Android tablets. All four tablets come with PRO branding and they range from 8.4″ inches to 12.2″ inches. A 12.2″ inch tablet has been rumored to come from Samsung for a while now, so these leaks only further confirm these rumors.
First up on the list, the Samsung Galaxy TabPRO 8.4 inch. This tablet will be powered by a Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.3 GHz. It includes an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera. It has 2GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB of storage and a 4,800 mAh battery. The device will also run a skinned version of Android KitKat. You can see the tablet to the side (pictures credit to @evleaks). Just like other Samsung tablets from recent months, this tablet will have hardware buttons and capacitive keys. It also appears to sport the same faux leather design as the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition. No information on cellular options was included.
After this comes the Galaxy TabPRO 10.1 inch and Galaxy TabPRO 12.2 inch. These devices will run on similar specifications. Both devices have the option of a Samsung Exynos 5 Octa-core processor or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800. The difference between the two is that with Samsung’s Exynos chip you cannot have LTE data on the device. The 10.1 inch device will sport 2GB of RAM, 16/32GB of storage, and an 8MP rear camera (2MP front). Battery life should be acceptable with a 8220 mAh battery. The 12.2 inch version will have 3GB of RAM, 32/64GB of storage, and the same camera setup. This will be powered by the much larger 9,500 mAh battery. Both devices are pictured below. The 10.1 variant on the left in white, and the 12.2 inch on the right in black.
The final device from Samsung’s new lineup is the Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 inch with S-Pen. This tablet is nearly identical to the Galaxy TabPRO 12.2 in every specification except that it includes an S-Pen. This gives Samsung the opportunity to label this device as a part of the Note lineup which undoubtedly mean that it will include more software features and cost slightly more than the TabPRO 12.2.
On the software side these devices seem to be running a different version of Samsung’s TouchWiz skin. The skin appears to be custom to this “PRO” lineup of devices. It looks to bring Samsung’s version of Microsoft’s live tiles found in Windows 8 and Windows Phone. This makes the fact that these tablets run Android even less believable.
All these devices should be announced and/or released sometime during the course of CES. Prices are completely unknown at this point so we will have to wait and see what Samsung decides to tell us over the upcoming days.
What do you think about these new tablets? Do they interest you?
