Facebook Launching Video Ads

Facebook is about to get even more annoying than it already is. Facebook will begin rolling out a new type of advertisement starting today. The new “feature” allows advertisers to play videos on your news feed. These videos start automatically with no sound but when you click on them you get sound and full screen playback. These new ads will further boost the companies revenue. Facebook could gain as much as $8.4 billion dollars per year from video ads alone. You don’t have to worry about the feature quite yet as it is still in the final phase of testing rolling out to only a “few” users. The full release will come soon. Facebook also states that the ads will not eat into mobile users data plans as the videos will download when you are on WiFi. There is no option to turn off videos, so if you don’t want to see them, Facebook says to scroll quickly past them.

If this is the last straw for you and you decide to close your account, don’t forget to follow us on Google+ and Twitter to keep up with all things iTechTriad!
