Acer C720 Chromebook – First Impressions!

Acer C720 Chromebook – First Impressions!

I recently ordered Acer’s latest entry into the Chromebook market, the Acer C720, as an upgrade over my Samsung Series 3 Chromebook. When I saw a Haswell processor and 4GB of RAM for only $249, I knew that it would be mine. After my first coupe hours with the device, I thought I’d write up my first impressions.

I had been planning to unbox this Chromebook on the iTechTriad YouTube channel but due to lack of time and the simple fact that I was just too excited to open it, there’s not going to be an unboxing video. On the other hand, I will be working on a comparison video between the Acer C720 Chromebook and the Samsung Series 3 Chromebook (and possibly the HP Chromebook 11 if I can get my hands on it) sometime over the next couple weeks. I know many of our followers are considering picking up a Chromebook this holiday season so why not consider some of the budget-friendly options? Be sure to go subscribe to the channel for that.

On to the first impressions. On the hardware side it is slim and light but also looks nice. The paint on the outside also seems like it will stand up to wear and tear a little bit better the the Samsung Series 3. The Acer C720 boots up just as fast as you would expect a Chromebook too, in seconds. The screen is very nice and gets surprisingly bright. Websites load quickly too. I have been able to load up Google+ and even The Verge’s site with ease. HD YouTube videos also play with ease. These are some of the areas I noticed my Series 3 having trouble. Overall this new Chromebook is very nice so far and I can’t wait to continue using it over the next few days, and with the amount of RAM it has, I’m sure that this machine will last me a few years.
