Moto G Smartphone Releasing In Over 30 Countries For Only $179

Motorola has their flagships phones, but unfortunately they are only available in the United States. Motorola’s flagships also costs a large price. Their latest product, the Moto G, delivers a premium experence with a very low cost of nearly $200 off-contract. After seeing the need for a good smartphone that is a fraction of the cost of a high end phone. The Moto G takes many of the design cues from the Moto X. The device’s build quality is quite impressive. The device has a 720p, 3.5″ display with a pixel density of 329ppi. The Moto G’s display actually beats out the iPhone 5S, which is 3x as expensive.

The Moto G has a quad-core Snapdragon 400 with 1GB of RAM and the phone claims all-day battery life. The Moto G also runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with a guarenteed upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat by January of 2014. While the Moto G does not have MotoMaker, is does have removable backs (no word on battery) that are different colors. The phone has a –MP camera with the same camera app as the Moto X. The device also has a FM radio built in as streaming services are not available in all the countries the device is.

The Moto G also takes design cues from stock Android and the Moto X. The device runs near stock Android with practically no bloatware. Sounds similar right? Motorola puts a lot of focus on Google’s services. They say that they didn’t “duplicate Google services like TouchWiz or Sense” to optimize performance. They added features that make the phone “a joy to use”. Because of these optimizations, the Moto G, which costs only $179, outperformed the Galaxy S4, which is 3x as expensive, in several categories. Moto G buyers also get 50 GB of Google Drive storage free of charge.

The Moto G will cost only $179 from Motorola’s website (8GB model) unlocked. The phone is also available in more countries than just the U.S. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem that it will have the always listening features. The phone will be available in over 30 countries by 2014 launching in some parts of the world including Brazil and European countries today. The device will be available in the U.S. in January.
