YouTube to Add Offline Viewing to iOS and Android Apps

Today YouTube announced that you will soon be able to download videos and watch them offline on your mobile devices. Obviously you can’t keep them forever though. YouTube says that users will be able to “add videos to their device to watch for a short period when an Internet connection is unavailable”

Some third-party apps have done this up until now, but against YouTube’s terms of service.

“We’re always exploring ways to bring more viewers to your content. As part of this effort, later this year we’ll launch a new feature on YouTube’s mobile apps that will help you reach fans — even when they’re not connected to the Internet”

YouTube said in a blog post today.

This new feature should begin appearing on devices sometime in November. Are you looking forward to it as much as me? Let me know in the comments!
